Capacity/Collaboration Meeting

Meeting at Town Hall with Sol Villarreal Community Engagement Coordinator with the city of Seattle took place at 1:30 p.m on Jan 25, 2010

The meeting began with staff members from S2 introducing themselves and their programs.  In attendance was: Laura, Ania, Eldan, Gabe and Nathan.  Sol asked questions as we gave our presentations and we also gave him documents as evidence of the programs and actions.

We also asked the city for assistance in recruitment of volunteers, funding and resources and after a discussion and many exchanges of ideas we concluded the meeting with a great start of a relationship.  No promises were made and we continue to build the relationship.

After the meeting back at the S2 office the staff members had a brief debriefing session to discuss the outcomes of the meeting and lessons learned:

¨      Before meetings it would be useful to have a small gathering to sync up the mode of presentation and to make clear what we are offering and what we are asking. 

¨      We all need to be clear and concise on what we do now (versus what we are going  to do).

¨      A primer type of document to introduce our organization should be sent ahead of our first meetings with various individuals and organizations.  We can then ask the person we are meeting with if they have had a chance to review the document and, if not, go over it with them so they have sufficient background
