CommEn Space Interactive Map - Neighborhood Demographics Neighborhood Demographic Interactive Map
This interactive mapping tool provides demographic information about housing, transportation, population, education and income for each of our neighborhood partners.  You can also learn about access to open space in your neighborhood.

If you are new to using this map function, please go to the Get Map Help function for more information on how to use the map.

Highlights of the Neighborhood Interactive Map

  1. You can click anywhere within a census block group or one of our four neighborhood partners, select the Census Summary  tool and view detailed statistics that compare the selected neighborhood to the citywide average.
  2. Easy to use map layers.  Just click on any of the options available (housing, transportation, population, employment/income) to find out more about that particular statistic in the partner neighborhoods.  The pie charts allow you to see this information at the block group level.
  3. Identify Features.  This allows you to get quick information about the neighborhood by choosing one of the drop-down options and then clicking on the map.

CommEn Space Interactive Map - Open Space AccessibilityOpen Space Accessibility Indicator Map
The open space maps provides information about accessibility and amenities in neighborhood parks and other open space, such as bike trails, school grounds and public gathering places.

There are many factors that determine accessibility of open space in a neighborhood, such as density, improvements to parks, and slopes.   Although we are encouraged by the open space accessibility indicator maps provided here, we view this as a first step toward developing a more complete indicator that better reflects access to parks and open space in Seattle's neighborhoods.

Currently, the following layers are available to view in this map tool:

  • # of people who live within a 1/4 mile of a park
  • # of park choices within 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 mile distances.  The more parks one lives near, the greater the choices of parks to visit and therefore, more access.
  • Slopes- although we are unable to incorporate this into the indicator itself, you can click on it to see where greater slopes occur to determine whether the slope is a prohibitive factor in accessibility of the park.
  • Amenities- This is a pop-up map function that allows you to view various amenities of parks in Seattle.

As we add new neighborhood partners to the Urban Neighborhoods Initiative Project, we will be updating the maps to include these new neighborhoods in the interactive mapping tool.

Remember: Always use the Refresh Map function after choosing one of the Map layers to view the new selected data and be patient- the data may take a few seconds to refresh.

Please let us know how you feel about this tool so we can continue to improve the data we provide about neighborhood quality of life.
