Admiral 2007 Street-Level Survey

Document Actions
Conducted on April 7th, 2007, the Admiral street-level survey focused primarily on the Admiral commercial district streets: California Ave SW from SW College St to SW Hanford St and Admiral Way SW from 41st Ave SW to 46th Ave SW. The Admiral Neighborhood Association has been working to implement the Admiral Neighborhood Plan. Taking part in a Sustainable Seattle survey provides these community leaders with baseline information about existing assets and areas of improvement.

Asset Findings:

Table 1:

Table 1 above lists the most frequently collected positive conditions (assets) organized by feature.  For example, most of the asset or opportunity incidents were found in the business category with 10 incidents collected such as local, non-franchise businesses and transparent windows.  The second most collected category were building conditions with architectural detail, in good condition, and landmark building with a total of 9 incidents collected.  Community members also discovered that the trees in the neighborhood were healthy and provided nice canopy.  Lastly, there were 7 incidences each of attractive trash cans and benches and sidewalks with good and safe walking space. Community members have collected 87 assets in Admiral on April 7th, 2007.  For a complete list of all the assets collected in the survey, click here. (Excel document)

Deficit Findings:

Table 2:

Table 2 above lists the most frequently collected negative conditions (deficits) organized by feature.  14 conditions were found in the sidewalk category.  A majority of the sidewalk conditions indicated uneven pavement and litter on the sidewalk.  Planting strips were the second most collected and were a concern due to the presence of weeds and litter.  Buildings incidences were collected 4 times due to graffiti and vacancies in commercial buildings. In total, there were 59 deficits or concerns collected by community members in the Admiral neighborhood on April 7th, 2007.  For a complete list of all the deficits collected during this survey, click here.
