Greenwood - Phinney Ridge

The third Greenwood-Phinney Ridge street-level survey was conducted on April 28th, 2007 and focused primarily on the Greenwood and Phinney Ridge commercial districts. The streets surveyed were Greenwood Ave N from N 67th St to N 90th St, Phinney Ave N from N 65th St to N 67th St. Additionally N 85th St from Fremont Ave N to 3rd Ave NW.

Findings of the April 28th, 2007 street-level survey:

Community members collected assets & opportunities (what they liked) as well as deficits & concerns (what they didn't like and what they thought were problems) along the areas of the main business district of the Greenwood-Phinney Ridge neighborhood.

Asset Findings:

Table 1 above lists the most frequently collected positive conditions (assets) organized by feature.  For example, most of the asset or opportunity incidents were found in the Business category with 41 incidents collected total such as local and non-franchise businesses.  The second most collected category were Tree conditions with 32 incidents collected.  The trees had nice canopies and were healthy.  Community members also discovered that the sidewalks in the neighborhood provided good and safe walking spaces.  Currently, community members have collected 228 assets in Greenwood-Phinney Ridge on April 28th 2007.  For a complete list of all the assets collected in the survey, click here. Deficit Findings:

Table 2 above lists the most frequently collected negative conditions (deficits) organized by feature.  44 sidewalk conditions were found.  A majority of the sidewalk conditions indicated uneven pavement, litter, and invasive plants.  Buildings were the second most frequently collected feature, 26 conditions were found in this category; the concerns were mostly abandoned buildings and graffiti. Trash can were the third collected feature, 13 incidents of overflowing and graffiti.  In total, there were 204 deficits or concerns collected by community members in the Greenwood-Phinney Ridge neighborhood on April 28th, 2007.  For a complete list of all the deficits collected during this survey, click here.
