K-12 Sustainability Education

Document Actions

Sustainable Seattle has a long history of bringing sustainability education to public and private schools. Sustainable Seattle began offering K-12 education with our SUNI project, in 2004. Since then, we have developed two approaches for educating children and youth about sustainability.  Our approaches aim to inspire and empower children and youth to make a positive impact in their daily lives today and in their careers.

Currently, we offer two programs for K-12 Education:

Design and Leadership Labs are fun, one hour sessions designed on a topic or industry and for a grade level. The labs are interactive and culminate in a group exercise that seeds the students with an understanding of their potential to influence and create positive change.

Choose to Change workshops in middle and high schools were funded from EPA Region 10 in 2008. We introduced a active-response technology to the workshop which make the sessions more interactive and allows us to assess learning.
