Sustainability Training And Resources

Document Actions
The STARs program provides people with the skills and knowledge to make their lives, surroundings and workplaces more sustainable. The workshops and brownbags are designed to offer resources to reach the sustainability goals defined by our community and encapsulated in Sustainable Seattle's set of regional indicators, the B-Sustainable Information Commons.

Our approach

Our philosophy is that all people have the ability to contribute towards sustainability and that it will take all of us working together to reach sustainability. The purpose of STARs is to spread information and connect people to improve all of our knowledge, skills and practice.

Most of our workshops are limited to small group sizes to encourage a rich conversation within the group. Instructors are encouraged to use a participatory process and careful attention is paid to ensure participants are provided the opportunity to deeply learn and apply lessons and tools in the class setting. We strive to build community and to ensure there is time for all to explore and share knowledge, resources and capacity towards sustainability. We can offer sliding scale fees to allow people with limited resources to take part.

STARs brownbags are donation-supported events that showcase thought leaders and experts for the goals of sustainability for our region - as defined by our community through the participatory research process and encapsulated in B-Sustainable.org (join & login for full access).
