Conflict Management & Resolution PDF Print E-mail

January 31, 2011, 12:30-3:30pm

Course Description

This 3-hour workshop presents an opportunity to learn new approaches to engaging in learning conversations with others (co-workers, bosses, family, friends, loved ones) with increased self-awareness.  With an attitude of curiosity, learn to increase your active listening skills so that others come away from their interactions with you feeling heard, seen, & acknowledged.  Experience the satisfaction of expressing your views & feelings in ways that do not invite defensiveness.  In this workshop, several models of conflict management & conflict resolution will be presented.

CTFLParticipants are asked to come to the training with a situation that they are currently experiencing conflict with, or have recently been in, and are comfortable sharing with the group.

Remember, conflict can be an important force for positive change!

Facilitators

John Abel & Paul Kramer are both students with LIOS Graduate College of Saybrook University, working towards Masters degrees in Organizational Development.  LIOS Graduate College promotes healthy, just and sustainable human systems by educating people to live and lead with integrity.

John Abel has been an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School for 20 years. His approach to conflict and self-awareness blends lessons learned in the mountains with current scholarly work on both subjects. John currently lives in Ballard.

Paul Kramer is a change agent, working to bring backbone & heart to all he does.  Paul has nearly 50 years of experience in dealing with conflict, not always effectively.  As a life-long learner, Paul has benefited from dealing with the challenges of difficult work situations; a long, challenging marriage, & a difficult divorce.  Through dealing with differences transparently, Paul is now creating & maintaining harmonious relationships throughout his life.  Paul lives in Mukilteo with his two teenage sons.
